George Amon Webster08/16/2010
Dear Friends,

The Toney Brothers would like thank all of you who have been faithfully praying for George and for us. We would like to report that George was released from the hospital on Thursday, August 12th. He looks good and is in great spirits and has returned home to Tennessee. His left arm is doing well and healing as expected. However, his fractured hip socket is healing slow and will require him to be off of it for an estimated six weeks. While all of this is positive news, we regret to inform you the test results of the mass found on George’s neck.

Doctors have discovered that George has cancer lesions on the back of his tongue that are spreading to the right side of his throat. So far, they say it is 9 cm in size, is non-operable and must be treated with chemotherapy and radiation. The doctors in Illinois are referring George to someone in Nashville to treat his cancer condition. Doctors have also voiced concern for George’s lack of eye sight due to his cataract problem. They feel this impairment will slow down his physical therapy process since he now cannot see enough to be mobile. Doctors also do not wish to start chemotherapy treatment, then have to pause for a cataract surgery.

The current plan formed by George’s doctors is for him to have cataract surgery then begin physical therapy and cancer treatment.

Please continue to keep George and the Toney Brothers in your prayers. For more updates concerning George, please visit www.toneybrothers.com

Dear Friends,

The Toney Brothers would like to say a thank you to all of you who are praying and continuing to support George financially. We saw him yesterday and received some updates that George asked us to release to you, our online friends. His left arm is doing well and healing as expected. His fractured hip socket is healing slow and will require him to be off of it for another six weeks. They are setting a tentative date of two weeks before he is released from the hospital in Illinois and can come back to Tennessee. While all of this is positive news, we regret to inform you of the test results from the mass found on George’s neck. The doctors have discovered that George has cancer lesions on the back of his tongue and are spreading to the right side of his throat. So far, they say it is 9 cm in size and is non-operable. The latest news we have received is that the Illinois doctors are referring George to someone in Nashville that will treat the cancer with radiation and chemotherapy upon his release from Illinois and his return to Tennessee. Doctors are just simply unable to release him at this time due to healing process of his left hip and George’s lack of ability to put any pressure on it. Doctors also mentioned they are concerned for George’s lack of eye sight due to his cataract problem. They feel this will slow down his physical therapy process because he can’t see to move around when the time comes. The current plan from George’s doctor is to release him in two weeks, get his cataract surgery done upon his return to Tennessee, then begin cancer treatment immediately. Again, doctors want the cataract surgery done before chemo begins so it does not interrupt his treatments and/or slow down his physical therapy aftercare.

Christian brothers and sisters, George and the Toney Brothers need your help like never before. We were instructed by a social worker at the hospital yesterday that George’s bill has already reached six figures. He still has two more weeks to stay in Illinois with therapy and then a transfer to Tennessee. After that, the cataract surgery and chemo. We are asking for your prayers and support like never before. With all the hospital bills, extra hotel and food cost, loss of income and a few dates, this burden is becoming severely difficult to bear. George has been a blessing to thousands over the years, and now we are asking that you be a blessing to him. If you would like to donate to George’s cause, please visit www.toneybrothers.com and click the donate button. We sincerely appreciate your support and prayers during this very difficult time. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive new information. In the meantime, the Toney Brothers and keeping their current schedule with different fill-ins who have agreed to help. We thank you all for keeping your scheduled events with us in George’s absence, as every bit of income helps us to help George.
